Professor Sally Benson is the Precourt Family Professor in the Department of Energy Science & Engineering at Stanford University.  From 1993 to 2001 she was Director of the Earth Sciences Division at Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory, where she initiated the program in CO2 storage and was a major contributor to the first IPCC reports on carbon storage. From Sept 2021 to June 2023 Dr. Benson was the Deputy Director for Energy and Chief Strategist for the Energy Transition at OSTP.  Dr. Benson received her PhD from the University of California at Berkeley.
Professor Anthony R. Kovscek is the Keleen and Carlton Beal Professor of Energy Science & Engineering at Stanford University, and Co-Director of the Stanford Center for Carbon Storage, and leads the Stanford University Energy Transition Research Institute in the area of subsurface engineering for sustainability. He is the director of the Center for Mechanistic Control of Unconventional Formations, an Energy Frontier Research Center. He has 30 years of experience in subsurface engineering related to oil recovery, carbon dioxide storage, and energy storage in both conventional and unconventional formations.   Dr. Kovscek received his PhD from the University of California at Berkeley.
Professor Mark Zoback (emeritus) is the Benjamin M. Page Professor of Geophysics at Stanford University, Director of the Stanford Natural Gas Initiative, Co-Director of the Stanford Center for Induced and Triggered Seismicity and Co-Director of the Stanford Center for Carbon Storage. Dr. Zoback conducts research on in situ stress, fault mechanics, and reservoir geomechanics with an emphasis on shale gas, tight gas and tight oil production.  Dr. Zoback received his PhD from Stanford University.
Sarah Dawn Saltzer
Dr. Sarah Saltzer is the Managing Director of the Stanford Center for Carbon Storage.  She has 25 years of experience in geological research and teaching, petroleum engineering on massive offshore fields, leading exploration teams, competitor analysis and business planning, executive responsibilities, and  responsibility for SEC-mandated reserves reporting. She holds a Ph.D. from Stanford University, M.S. and B.S. from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
